The World War II Stories app is a student work exhibit featuring an innovative timeline that tells the story of 31 World War II events through the eyes of a person who influenced each one. Ms. Heather Calabros 9th grade MPX Humanities students at Mid-Pacific Institute researched a World War II event, chose a person associated with the event, and drafted and revised a short story for the collective class timeline.

With the help of Mid-Pacifics technology expert, Tony Johansen, the students then created a visual representation of their WWII event using Google SketchUp and 3D-printed them for a unique physical timeline display, erected on campus for all to enjoy along with this app. Visitors are able to admire the physical exhibit, and download this app to learn about WWII from the stories and videos associated with each timeline tick (the 3D-printed creations).

Through student choice and student voice, the Mid-Pacific ninth graders behind this project gained a much deeper understanding of WWII. The students were in charge of their own learning by doing quality research for the project work. The 3D modeling portion of the project took a lot of time and patience on the students parts, but they were able to succeed and are now fluent in the cutting-edge technology. The students are thrilled to share their hard work with the public through this app and hope that you leave kind, helpful, and specific feedback for them in the comment sections.
